QUESTION OF THE MONTH:

We are continuing with our study on The Love of God.  To review, the first three truths are:

1.   God’s Love is a SURE THING – Not a Gamble

2.   God’s Love will meet you where you are – right now.

3.   God’s love is a covenant, not a contract

You can access these first three studies on our Past Questions & Answers page.  Today we move on to the next truth, which is:

Part 4. God’s Love is Trust-worthy  - WORTHY OF TRUST

Psalm 143:8 (Amplified Bible)

8Cause me to hear Your loving-kindness in the morning, for on You do I lean and in You do I trust. Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk, for I lift up my inner self to You.

Psalm 13:5 (Contemporary English Version)

5I trust your love, and I feel like celebrating because you rescued me.

If you have not yet accepted Christ as your personal Savior, go to the “Contact Us” page, and read about taking the First Step.

But for those of you who have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you are trusting that Jesus will come back for you one day, and you will spend eternity with Him in Heaven, right?  Well, how many of you can explain exactly how that is going to happen?  That’s what I thought!  We can not know exactly how that is going to happen, but we just trust in what God’s Word has told us, and we are excited about it!

After all, most of us don’t know exactly how a car runs, or how a plane stays up in the air, but we just follow the instructions given us, and we can drive a car, and stay safe in a plane.   Wouldn’t it be silly to say “I’m not going to drive a car until I understand exactly how it is going to get me from point A to point B?”  We leave the know-how to the auto makers, or the pilot of a plane.

Therefore, if we are convinced that God’s Love is worthy of our trust, even to the point that somehow we’re going to be transformed and be with Him with eternally, then we will just have to trust Him when things don’t make sense to us here on earth - when things seem pointless, unpleasant, unfamiliar, radical and senselessGod is not a man, and He can not lie. (Numbers 23:19)

Many of us say that we trust God, but we fall apart at the smallest challenge or interruption in our lives.  He wants us to trust in Him in the small things as well as the big things.  Think of your own situation today, whether it be a broken finger or a child on drugs – are you trusting that the Love that God has for you is worthy?  Is it enough for you to stand on?

We must remember that God has a plan for our lives, and He has had that plan since before the earth began (I Timothy 1:9).  He has all the details worked out – through the ups and downs and questions we have.  Just ask Him!  He’ll be glad to share with you – through His Word, through another mature Christian, or through a quiet voice that speaks to your heart.

God is asking today,

“Do you find My Love trust-worthy – worthy of trust?  Will you still trust me if you pray for the sick and they don’t recover?  Will you still trust me if your spouse walks out even though you were praying for reconciliation?  Will you still love me if your job closes down?”

Many of us struggle because we want to know “Why” something happened.  Sometimes God will show us, and sometimes He won’t.  But here is the real question that God wants you to ponder…..

“Will you still trust Me if I never tell you ‘Why?’”

That is the question you must ask yourself in these days and times of anguish and hopelessness and grief and tragedy.    The devil knows his time is short, and he is pulling out all stops.  He does not care if you are a servant of the Lord.  He comes to steal, kill and destroy, but you can trust and depend that Jesus came to give us life abundantly, no matter what we go through. (John 10:10)

If you’ve read the Bible, I hate to tell you this, but this world is going to get worse before it gets better.  And this should not be a surprise to any of us.

But I have good news – it IS going to get better!  Be encouraged – Part 5 is coming soon

Part 5. God’s LOVE will lead you on…and on

FROM STEPPING STONES RESTORATION MINISTRY JOKE OF THE MONTH

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch.  At the head of the table was a large pile of apples.  The nun made a note and posted it on the apple tray: "Take only ONE.  God is watching."  Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.  A child had written a note, "Take all you want.  God is watching the apples."

A little boy's prayer: "Dear God, please take care of my daddy and my mommy and my sister and my brother and my doggy and me.  Oh, please take care of yourself, God. If anything happens to you, we're gonna be in a big mess."

THINGS AREN'T ALWAYS AS BAD AS YOU THINK

A man took his Rottweiler to the vet.  "My dog's cross-eyed," he said, "is there anything you can do for him?"  "Well," replied the vet, "let's have a look at him."  So he picked the dog up and examined his eyes, and also checked his teeth.  Suddenly, the vet says, "I'm going to have to put him down."  "What?  Because he's cross-eyed?"  "No," replied the vet, "because he's heavy."

POETRY/STORIES

ANYWAY
by Mother Teresa

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered: Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives: Be kind anyway.

If you are successful you will win some false friends and some true enemies: Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you: Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight: Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous: Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people may often forget tomorrow: Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough: Give the world the best you have got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis it is between you and God: It was never between you and them anyway.

TRUSTING

As I awaken to this beautiful day warmed by a sun that shines especially for me, my heart can scarcely contain this joy that I feel.
And here I shall trust in the Lord

As I awaken to this slow, sweet day cooled by a playful breeze that I am sure was sent to comfort only me…this respite is my time for peaceful reflections.
And here I shall trust in the Lord.

As I awaken to this dark day where everything is cold and hostile and there is no peace for my soul…unable to pull myself from this lost place…this place where my pain is unnamed…this hidden place known only to me.
Especially here will I trust in the Lord.
