We are continuing with our
study on The Love of God. To review, the first three truths are:
1. God’s Love is a
SURE THING – Not a Gamble
2. God’s Love will
meet you where you are – right now.
3. God’s love is a
covenant, not a contract
You can access
these first three studies on our Past Questions & Answers page. Today
we move on to the next truth, which is:
Part 4. God’s Love is
Trust-worthy - WORTHY OF TRUST
Psalm
143:8 (Amplified Bible)
8Cause me to
hear Your loving-kindness in the morning, for on You do I lean
and in You do I trust. Cause me to know the way wherein I should
walk, for I lift up my inner self to You.
Psalm
13:5 (Contemporary English Version)
5I trust your
love, and I feel like celebrating because you rescued me.
If you have not yet
accepted Christ as your personal Savior, go to the “Contact Us” page,
and read about taking the First Step.
But for those of you who
have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you are trusting
that Jesus will come back for you one day, and you will spend eternity
with Him in Heaven, right? Well, how many of you can explain exactly
how that is going to happen? That’s what I thought! We can not know
exactly how that is going to happen, but we just trust in what
God’s Word has told us, and we are excited about it!
After all, most of us don’t
know exactly how a car runs, or how a plane stays up in the air, but we
just follow the instructions given us, and we can drive a car, and stay
safe in a plane. Wouldn’t it be silly to say “I’m not going to drive a
car until I understand exactly how it is going to get me from point A to
point B?” We leave the know-how to the auto makers, or the pilot of a
plane.
Therefore, if we are
convinced that God’s Love is worthy of our trust, even to the point that
somehow we’re going to be transformed and be with Him with eternally,
then we will just have to trust Him when things don’t make sense to us
here on earth - when things seem pointless, unpleasant, unfamiliar,
radical and senseless. God is not a man, and He can not lie.
(Numbers 23:19)
Many of us say that we
trust God, but we fall apart at the smallest challenge or interruption
in our lives. He wants us to trust in Him in the small things as well
as the big things. Think of your own situation today, whether it be a
broken finger or a child on drugs – are you trusting that the Love that
God has for you is worthy? Is it enough for you to stand on?
We must remember that God
has a plan for our lives, and He has had that plan since before the
earth began (I Timothy 1:9). He has all the details worked out –
through the ups and downs and questions we have. Just ask Him! He’ll
be glad to share with you – through His Word, through another mature
Christian, or through a quiet voice that speaks to your heart.
God is asking today,
“Do you find My Love
trust-worthy – worthy of trust? Will you still trust me if you pray for
the sick and they don’t recover? Will you still trust me if your spouse
walks out even though you were praying for reconciliation? Will you
still love me if your job closes down?”
Many
of us struggle because we want to know “Why” something happened.
Sometimes God will show us, and sometimes He won’t. But here is the
real question that God wants you to ponder…..
“Will you still trust Me if
I never tell you ‘Why?’”
That is the question
you must ask yourself in these days and times of anguish and
hopelessness and grief and tragedy. The devil knows his time is
short, and he is pulling out all stops. He does not care if you are a
servant of the Lord. He comes to steal, kill and destroy, but you can
trust and depend that Jesus came to give us life abundantly, no matter
what we go through. (John 10:10)
If you’ve read the Bible, I
hate to tell you this, but this world is going to get worse before it
gets better. And this should not be a surprise to any of us.
But I have good news – it
IS going to get better! Be encouraged – Part 5 is coming soon
Part 5. God’s LOVE will
lead you on…and on
